Travel Plan Australia

Travel Plan and Guidance for International Students who are traveling to Australia from this December

Australia Travel Declaration: –

To travel Australia for International Students, they should complete an Australia Travel Declaration (ATD) within 72 hours before departure. The travelers should be able to provide evidence of the critical information that was completed before boarding the aircraft.

This is a warranted requirement and those who fail to follow the requirements will be subjected to a fine of 30 penalty units (currently AUD $6,660).

ATD collects your contact details in Australia including flight details, travel history, vaccine information, quarantine requirements and your present health condition.

  • Details to be added while filling out the ATD form: –
  1. Have to provide your contact details that include a phone number in Australia.
  2. Have to make a legally compulsory statement in relation to your vaccine status.

  1. Have to make a statement of the last 14 days of your travel history.
  2. Have to make a statement that you are conscious of the quarantine and testing requirements that apply in the state or territory you are landing, and also the penalties for objection.

By these details, the Australian Government determines your quarantine agreements (if needed) and allows the health department to contact you if someone you traveled with is tested COVID-19 positive.

In case of pre-departure: –

If your college application and student visa application are just accepted then Congratulations. But before traveling, make sure that your pre-departure preparations are in order. After all, it would be huge trouble to forget an important document when you’re at the airport waiting for your flight to take off to your chosen destination.

Starting your Declaration: –

Basic information must be ready before starting declaration: –

  • Passport Details
  • Evidence of Vaccination
  • Travel Information
  • Last 14 days travel history
  • Destination Details
  • Contact Details

To provide this basic information, you need to create an account that will allow you to manage your present and future declarations.

You won’t be able to change details once submitted and have to fill up a new ATD and delete the previous one. This might happen if there is a change in your flight, health status, or mistakes.

You can still fill up a new declaration even if the previous one has a message displaying it is being deleted.

In the case of those under 15 or minors, parents should complete a declaration form.

NOTE*: – If the given information to the Australian Government is found wrong or is misleading information, then one can be held in prison for 12 months.

After you complete your Australian Travel Declaration, you will receive an email confirmation with the details you can show (either electronically or printed) before boarding your flight or on arrival in Australia.

Your email will have: –

  • Green response (with a tick)

This response indicates that you have met one of the following conditions: –

  1. quarantine -free arrival or
  2. pre-approved home quarantine
  • Blue response (with an hourglass)-> If you need to quarantine on arrival
  • Red response (with a cross)-> In this case, your airline will decide if you can travel. And, if you are allowed to travel to Australia, you must need to quarantine on arrival.

All of the travelers must check their arrangements in both the place of arrival and the place of destination. The quarantine requirements are different in each Australian state and territory.

What is DPD?

The Morrison Government has taken the next move in preparation for reopening Australia to international travel at scale, with the appointment of Accenture to deliver the Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD).

It is used for the incoming passenger and replaces their physical incoming passenger card and the COVID-19 Australian Travel document web form. Also, including the passenger’s vaccination status and COVID-19 check-up before 72 hours of boarding the flight to Australia.

Those passengers coming to Australia will be able to fill-up the form on their mobile devices or computer.

Digital Passenger Declaration will support the safe re-opening of Australia’s international border by delivering electronically verified COVID-19 vaccine details. It will also provide the volume to collect, verify and share any Australian Government-approved and electronically-verified travel, health and vaccine status information of international travelers.

The DPD will now move into a trial phase before being deployed at scale throughout major Australian airports.
